Need Some Christmas Love? Try Christmas In Spite of You

DESCRIPTION: With my virtual design business melting down faster than snow in a heatwave, I needed a cash infusion. Renting my apartment out while I’d be away for Christmas seemed like a capital dea … until I caught a bug. And failed to cancel the rental reservation. So, now here’s Kanton Joseph standing in my doorway, disturbing my peace.

I came to Atlanta to secure a lucrative business deal. I need peace and quiet while I plan my strategy. What I don’t need are distractions, like the certified Christmas elf that comes with the AirBNB I rented. I hate Christmas, so why am I succumbing to Noel Anderson’s jingle bells?

What Had Me Jonesing

  • Noel and Kanton didn’t need a cozy fireplace. They provided their own fire. 🔥
  • Noel reminds me of myself. Forever a child when it comes to Christmas. I get it from my grandmother and I never want to lose it.
  • All the Christmas feels here. Tree shopping, eggnog drinking, holiday pajamas, cookie baking, and more. 🥗

What Struck Me

  • Noel’s bestie Simone was a hoot. I love good wordplay almost as much as good bedroom scenes. And Simone gives good … puns.😍 The girl needs her own starring role.
  • They fell fast. And together. The main story takes place over only a week, but feels possible.
  • Loved how Simone filled in the tiny crevices of Kanton’s heart and vice versa. A perfect fit.

Tropes

  • Forced Proximity
  • Grumpy Sunshine
  • Christmas Lover vs. Christmas Hater

Bottom Line

Noel and Kanton’s story strikes all the right notes for a Christmas romance. Amid the magic of sleigh bells, Christmas carols, Santa Claus, eggnog and hot chocolate, and holiday dress-up parties, these two fall in love. And the reader falls in love with them. If you haven’t read it, do so. It’ll definitely put you in the Christmas mood.
