CEO Gideon Fate runs his publishing company as he chooses. Too bad he has a Board of Directors none to happy with how he chooses. After his latest dustup, he needs to improve his image. Strong-arming beautiful employee Artemis as his fake fiance isn’t his idea, but it might just be his best last chance.
What Had Me Jonesing
- Vivid, well-developed, absolutely lovable characters in Artemis and Gideon
- Explosive chemistry
- Make-you-forget-you’re-married storyline
- Beautiful word painting
- Burn-your-insides-to-a-crisp sex scenes
What Struck Me
- Very long read
- Artemis’ financially struggling family’s home in Greenwich Village WITH a driveway. How?
- Unexplained Issues – I’m not exactly sure what Gideon’s father did to him or what precipitated his emotional hibernation. Also, while I know what Artemis’ mother did to her in adulthood, I don’t know why her mother disliked her since childhood.
- Artemis, who is American, slipped into British-isms. Like homely instead of homey for coziness. Quite different meanings in American English.
My Bottom Line
This book was not perfect. Is there such a thing? But it WAS pure perfection. I devoured it like I haven’t done with a book in a very long time.
Thank you, Athena Carstairs, for the hours of pure pleasure. I’m jonesin’ for the next installment.
